Eligibility and Requirements

By September 1st of the school year, children must have had their 2nd birthday to be eligible for the 2s or 2/3s program, their 3rd birthday to be eligible for the 3s program, and their 4th birthday to be eligible for the 4/5s program. An effort is made to keep a balance of boys/girls and ages in each class. Enrollment may also be limited based on the needs of the current group. Subject to Board approval, children turning 3 or 4 in September who demonstrate capabilities warranting admission to the respective 3s or 4/5s programs may be admitted to those programs upon the recommendation of the Teacher-Director.

Classes

2s Class

Tuesday & Thursday, 9:30 am – 12:00 pm

There are a maximum of 8 children in the class. In addition to the teacher, there are two co-op parents each day, for an adult:child ratio around 1:3. The goal of the Two’s program is to help children separate from parents and to become acclimated to a school environment.

2/3s Class

Tuesday & Friday, 9:15 am – 12:15 pm

There are a maximum of 8 children in the class. In addition to the teacher, there are two co-op parents each day, for an adult:child ratio around 1:3. The goal of the Two/Three’s program is to help children separate from parents and to become acclimated to a school environment. In addition, this program will begin to focus on social-emotional development and becoming confident, creative learners.

3s Class

Monday, Wednesday & Thursday, 9:30 am – 12:15 pm

There are a maximum of 12 children in the class. In addition to the teacher, there are two co-op parents each day, for an adult:child ratio of 1:4. The Three's class focus and environment is social-emotional development and becoming confident, creative learners.

4/5s Class

Monday through Friday, 9:15 am – 12:15 pm

There are a maximum of 18 children in the class. The school year begins with two co-op parent per day, for an adult:child ratio of 1:6. As the school year progresses, and the focus of preparing to attend kindergarten accelerates, we may choose to drop to one co-op parent each day for an adult:child ratio of 1:9. The goals and environment in the Four/Five’s class is to provide opportunities where learning can be creative, exploratory and hands-on. Children are encouraged to be self-confident and responsible for their learning.

Optional Programs

Our community continues in the afternoon with optional activities.

Lunch Bunch

Available Monday through Friday depending on demand, 12:15 – 12:45 pm for ages 3 and up. Children bring their own prepared lunch from home. Lunch bunch is an excellent opportunity for children to continue developing social skills outside the classroom.

Extended Day

Available Monday through Wednesday depending on demand, 12:45 – 2:30 pm for ages 3 and up. The afternoon enrichment program is teacher-led and allows children to explore a variety of themes throughout the year.

Tuition and Fees

Two months of tuition are pre-paid in advance upon acceptance into the school. These pre-payments apply to September (3 weeks), May, and June (1 week).

The remaining seven months are paid monthly, due by the 15th day of the preceding month.

Scholarship Program

Cedar Lane Nursery School is able to offer a limited number of scholarships to families in need. All scholarships are partial, covering a portion of tuition costs, and are dependent on the financial need of the family. To apply, print out and complete the Scholarship Application and mail it to the attention of the Director with other required documents.

Summer Camp

Camp is an exciting opportunity for children ages two years and older to explore new experiences through art, outdoor water play, cooking, science and drama. Each activity is child oriented and geared towards creative and independent thinking. Summer camp is also an excellent way for new children and parents to become familiar with the school and teachers. Email the Summer Camp Director for more information.
